HAIR RESTORATION
Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) is injected into the scalp to improve areas of hair loss. PRP is filled with growth factors which stimulate the hair follicles resulting in improved hair growth. Some common conditions that can be improved by microneedling and PRP include hair thinning from aging ,androgenic alopecia, alopecia areata, and tension/traction alopecia
HOW IT WORKS
PRP therapy has been practiced since the 1980s to alleviate problems such as healing injured tendons, ligaments, and muscles. PRP injections are believed to trigger natural hair growth by increasing blood supply to the hair follicles and increasing the hair shaft thickness. Using a three-step medical process, the patient’s blood is drawn, processed, and injected into the scalp.
THE PRP PROCESS
STEP 1
Blood is drawn typically from the patient’s arm, then placed into a centrifuge for several minutes.
STEP 2
After about 10 minutes, the patient’s blood will have separated into three layers: platelet-poor plasma, platelet-rich plasma, and red blood cells.
STEP 3
The platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the areas of the scalp that need increased hair growth.
